Masons Daughter has joined our team coming from the Philip O Connor yard in Co.Cork. A daughter of Sandmason is already a winner of a bumper in Listowel in September. We look forward to a few days out with this young lady. She is only four so she has a lot to take on board especially with the hustle and bustle of a new yard but she’s settling in well. Our next adventure was a new one for us as a club. On the 12th Of November we sent troops to Tattersalls Ireland with a view of buying a yearling. James, Matt, Barry and Gerry headed for the Boyne Valley to Ratoath in search of a new addition to our team and our first purchase. Reports on the day suggested that it was tough work for the boys trying to secure something special, being the under-bidders a number of times. Persistence prevailed, opportunities seized and the boys came good when securing lot 231, a grey Fame And Glory Gelding from Chapel Lane Bloodstock. He is a striking sort who would be a half brother to the unfortunate Granit Jack who could have been anything from a Champion Hurdle horse to a Gold Cup horse had he not taken a fatal fall in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham some years ago. Being grey is always a plus! Granit Jack like his brother was grey and ran in the colors of Mr.John Hales, the colors which were also sported by some great greys in racing, One Man, Al Ferof, Neptune Collonges and Unioniste. Maybe we will start the grey trend of greats all over again. Who doesn’t love a grey? For now he is maturing and growing in Cork with David Fenton. We await and see what will grow!
